Valverde.– Members of the Dominican Republic Army (ERD) intercepted two vehicles in which 30 Haitian citizens in an irregular migratory status were being transported during an operation carried out in the Higüerito Peñuela community, in the Amina municipal district, in the Mao municipality.
According to the military institution, one of the seized vehicles was a Hyundai Sonata LF, white in color, in which nine men of Haitian nationality were traveling without immigration documents.
In the same operation, a white Hyundai van was also stopped, which was transporting another 21 foreigners: 12 women, three men, and six minors.
The authorities reported that, upon noticing the presence of the military, the drivers of both vehicles abandoned the units and fled the scene, leaving the passengers inside.

The 30 Haitian citizens, along with the two occupied vehicles, were transferred to the headquarters of the Fourth Infantry Brigade of the ERD, where the corresponding procedures were carried out.
Subsequently, the foreigners were handed over to the General Directorate of Migration (DGM) for the process established by current migration legislation.
The Army indicated that it maintains surveillance and interdiction operations in the border provinces and in other areas under its responsibility, as part of the actions to combat illegal human trafficking and strengthen migratory control in the country.
