Santo Domingo.– The Attorney General of the Republic, Yeni Berenice Reynoso, valued the willingness of the National Council of Private Enterprise (Conep) to collaborate in the dissemination of the new Penal Code and highlighted that the legislation incorporates the classification of crimes that were not contemplated in the previous regulations due to their age.
Reynoso offered these statements after receiving a delegation from the business sector in his office, led by the president of Conep, Celso Juan Marranzini, with whom he discussed issues related to the implementation and socialization of the new legislation.
The delegation was also composed of Rafael Izquierdo, Paola Ranieri, Julio Virgilio Brache, Lina García, César R. Dargan, and Carlos José Martí.
During the meeting, private sector representatives recalled that they participated in the various stages of discussion regarding the reform of the Penal Code, presenting observations aimed at strengthening the country’s legal certainty.
Likewise, they explained the actions they are developing to strengthen legal departments and regulatory compliance mechanisms within companies.

“Our entire sector always has the greatest willingness to work on continuous improvements,” stated Marranzini.
For his part, Reynoso reiterated the Public Ministry’s willingness to accompany the different sectors of society in the process of socialization and understanding of the new Penal Code.

“We value the interest of Conep and all social sectors. We want the entire population to know this new tool thoroughly, because we must all strive in its application to continue building a society with more security, greater legal guarantees, and better protection for victims,” stated the Attorney General.
