Attorney General’s Office opens an integral center in Haina of the Public Ministry for access to justice

Santo Domingo.– Continuing with the implementation of the institutional plan promoted by the Public Ministry to improve citizens’ access to justice, Attorney General Yeni Berenice Reynoso led this Tuesday the inauguration of the headquarters that houses the Community Prosecutor’s Office of Haina, the Peace Court and the specialized units for the care of women and children. The comprehensive justice access center of Haina, located on El Seguro street, almost corner of Carretera Sánchez Vieja, includes a Community Prosecutor’s Office, a Peace Court, an Integral Attention Unit for Gender, Intrafamily and Sexual Violence, as well as a Prosecutor’s Office for Children and Adolescents. Prosecutor Reynoso highlighted that the residents of the municipality of Haina were demanding a space that would allow them not to have to travel to the headquarters of San Cristóbal to receive services from the Public Ministry. “Today we are in the municipality of Haina, this is a hardworking land, whose history is woven with the daily effort of men and women who get up to fight for a better future, this municipality is vital for industry and development, not only of the municipality of the province, but also of the Dominican Republic,” Reynoso expressed. He highlighted that the municipality, which works with dignity and determination, “deserves a Public Ministry that is up to this town, a Public Ministry that is close, accessible, honest and efficient”. In the act participated the Minister of Interior and Police, Faride Raful; the executive director of the National Health Service (SNS), Mario Lama; the general director of Prosecution of the Public Ministry, Wilson Camacho; the court prosecutor Olga Diná Llaverías, head of the National Directorate of Children, Adolescents and Family (Dinnaf), and the chief prosecutor of San Cristóbal, Ramona Santana. In addition, Pura Casilla, provincial governor of San Cristóbal; Vice Admiral José Manuel Cabrera Ulloa, president of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD); Major General Ramon Antonio Guzmán Peralta, director of the National Police; Senator Gustavo Lara; the mayor of Haina, Osvaldo Ramírez, and the court prosecutor Faustino Pulinario, head of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office of San Cristóbal. Among the guests was the president of Grupo SIN, Fernando Hasbún, a native of the municipality. Father José Lugo, pastor of the San Agustín de Haina Parish, blessed the premises belonging to the SNS, an institution that had it available and put it at the service of the Public Ministry. Prosecutor Reynoso stated that the Public Ministry plans to continue opening other comprehensive care centers. “The Public Ministry not only wants to continue with a traditional prosecution model, it was imperative to start with a closer model, with a community justice model in a security ecosystem designed to guarantee timely access,” she said. “Justice cannot be distant, justice cannot be bureaucratic, justice has to be timely and close; here we are going to work hand in hand with the community, with all the agencies that make up the Task Force, Ministry of the Interior, DNCD, Police and Ministry of Defense that supports us in mixed patrolling,” he said. “Justice has to respond, a strong and resounding response to all manifestations of criminality, but, we also understand it is essential and necessary to get involved in prevention,” he emphasized. He announced that on January 6th he will inaugurate a Community Prosecutor’s Office in La Romana, which should also include attention to children. He recognized the work carried out by the San Cristóbal Prosecutor’s Office team, which he said is making an extraordinary effort. He also highlighted the inauguration of the Peace Court. “The idea is that every citizen of this town who needs to go to the Public Ministry in this new headquarters will have, and, I must say, with the permission of the head municipality, that when they enter they will see that it is a headquarters in much better conditions than the one the head municipality has”. “This is a commitment we make to all the people of Haina, to the province of San Cristóbal, from here we guarantee that there will be a decrease in criminal acts, they will have access to timely, more humane justice, this is the commitment we make to you today, to work tirelessly so that your streets are safer, so that young people can enjoy with more security, with more space for tranquility, this is an investment in security, in justice, it is a vote of confidence to hardworking people, to people who are tireless in building a better future, to the wonderful people of Haina, thank you, because you are also demanding this space, today we are here because your struggle has been important and today it has results,” he specified. “I promise you that from today on, you will notice a before and after in the life of this community, we have put justice where the people live, now let’s make it work,” concluded the Attorney General. Also, the chief prosecutor of San Cristóbal, Ramona Santana, who gave the welcome speech, explained that the new space is born with the firm purpose of bringing justice closer to the citizenry, strengthening citizen security, and promoting peaceful coexistence in the municipality of Bajos de Haina.
