Furthermore, they addressed the focus of global capital on tourism and the potential for investments, highlighted the possibility of growth in the Caribbean, detailed the new engines of tourism growth for the Caribbean region, beyond traditional destinations, and discussed the evolution of tourism and multi-purpose tourism in the Caribbean. “We want this knowledge to be recorded, to generate more debate and a constant interest in growing as an industry and as a country. As part of the III BHD Tourism and Investment Forum, the financial institution recognized David Collado, Minister of Tourism of the Dominican Republic, for having taken Dominican tourism to its highest point. The recognition plaque was presented by Steven Puig, president of Banco BHD, accompanied by Guillermo Méndez, executive vice president of Corporate and Business Banking; Josefina Navarro, senior vice president of Corporate Communication and Social Responsibility; Ariel Pérez, vice president of Tourism and Related Services, and Rosa Romero, vice president of Structured Finance. Institutional Trajectory of the BHD Tourism and Investment Forum The first edition of the BHD Tourism and Investment Forum was in 2024 and presented the theme “Sustainable tourism. Current situation, perspective, mitigating factors and best practices“. The second, in 2025, addressed opportunities in the economic ecosystem of tourism in the Dominican Republic. The III BHD Tourism and Investment Forum was held in Madrid, Spain, on Tuesday, January 20, 2026. It is the only Dominican event within the framework of Fitur that provides specialized content on the sector.
