BIGENTIK GROUP joins the City Hall and the Clean Ocean Foundation to combat plastic in the Caño Seco River

Las Terrenas, Samaná, Dominican Republic. In a joint effort to address the issue of plastic in the Caño Seco River, the company BIGENTIK GROUP, represented by architect Nicolás Benjamín and his partner, real estate promoter and developer José Manuel, joined forces with the Fundación Océano Limpio and the City Hall of Las Terrenas, headed by Mayor Eduardo Esteban Willis. The initiative contemplates the installation of several biobarriers at strategic points along the Caño Seco River, with the aim of stopping the large amount of plastics and solid waste that are daily carried by its waters and that end up affecting the municipality’s beaches. This project aims to protect the marine ecosystem, preserve coral reefs, and contribute to the cleaning of the coasts, essential elements for environmental sustainability and the tourism development of Las Terrenas. The total investment amounts to 900 thousand pesos, allocated to the placement of biobarriers and the execution of a structured plan for the collection of accumulated plastics. In addition, the initiative includes an environmental education and citizen awareness component, with a view to fostering a culture of responsibility and establishing, in the future, a regime of consequences for those who pollute.
