Jean Montero was born on July 3, 2003, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic. He is a professional Dominican basketball player who plays as a point guard and is considered one of the main emerging figures in international basketball outside the NBA.
From his beginnings, he showed exceptional talent for basketball, standing out for his speed, ball handling, and ability to generate offensive play. His development led him to Europe, where he began his professional career in Spanish basketball, progressively consolidating himself in one of the most competitive leagues in the world.
Throughout his career in the ACB League, Montero reached an elite level, being a key piece in Valencia Basket’s success during the 2025-2026 season, in which the team won the league championship against FC Barcelona. In that same campaign, he was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the Liga Endesa Finals.
His impact also extended to the EuroLeague, where he led his team to the semifinals for the first time in the club’s recent history. His performance earned him recognition as the MVP of the playoffs in the top European competition, in addition to receiving the Rising Star award.
