Santo Domingo.– Dominican basketball player Jean Montero stated that he is looking forward to his arrival at Olympiacos in Greece, after signing a three-season contract valued at 8.1 million euros, one of the most significant deals for a Dominican player in European basketball.
When approached by the press after a Banco de Reservas event, Montero expressed his gratitude for the support received throughout his career and stated that this new step represents a great challenge.
“Simply grateful to God and to all the people who have supported me since the beginning of my career. Being able to take this big step is very important to me. Now it is time to keep working and keep my feet on the ground, because it is a new challenge and it is also very exciting,” he stated.
The Dominican point guard also dedicated a few words to the Valencia Basket fans, the team with which he won the Liga Endesa and from which he said goodbye after several seasons.
“I always said that Valencia was my home from the first day. I always gave everything for that shirt. Now a new challenge arrives, life goes on and you have to accept things as they are,” he expressed.

Montero also took the opportunity to send a message to the young people who dream of following in his footsteps in professional basketball.
“Pursue your dreams, keep working, and forget about distractions. Distractions will always be there, but you have to keep fighting for your dreams,” he advised.
The Dominican was announced this Wednesday as the new player for Olympiacos, one of the most important clubs in European basketball. He arrives at the Greek team after a brilliant season with Valencia Basket, where he led the team to the Liga Endesa title and was named Most Valuable Player (MVP) of the ACB Finals.

During the 2025-2026 season, he averaged 15.2 points, 4.5 assists, 36.2% from three-point range, and an 18.4 PIR per game. Additionally, he received the EuroLeague Playoffs MVP and the competition’s Rising Star awards.
With this signing, Jean Montero will seek to establish himself as one of the main figures of European basketball in a new chapter with the Greek team.
