Santo Domingo.– Political leader Carlos Gabriel García announced this Tuesday that he will not accept the appointment as Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Los Angeles, California, a position for which he was appointed by President Luis Abinader through decree 418-26.
The decision was announced by García himself during his Telediario program, where he explained that, before establishing a position, he consulted with the main leaders of the political project he heads.
As indicated, during that meeting the impact of his departure from the country was evaluated, and it was concluded that his remaining in the Dominican Republic is more convenient to continue strengthening the political organization and supporting the leaders who are part of its structure.
The leader maintained that accepting the consular position would have represented a strictly personal benefit, while his priority is to continue working alongside his militancy and consolidate the political project he has developed over the last few years.
García also recalled the support he provided to President Luis Abinader during the process that brought him to power. In that sense, he mentioned that he resigned from the vice presidency of the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) and subsequently left the position of deputy foreign minister for the purpose of supporting the current president’s presidential candidacy.

Likewise, he stated that he made political, organizational, and financial contributions during the electoral campaign, collaborating with various fundraising activities and with the structure that supported the current president.
Despite declining the appointment, García assured that he maintains a good relationship with the head of state and reiterated his support for the initiatives promoted by the Government during the remainder of his term.
Finally, he expressed that he will continue to develop his political work from the Dominican Republic, considering that this is the best way to contribute to the strengthening of his organization and the development of the country.
