Santo Domingo.– The Puerto Rican actor and singer Carlos Ponce is in Dominican Republic as part of the promotional tour for the film Perla, which will arrive in Caribbean Cinemas theaters on May 28th.
Ponce, who shares the leading role with former Miss Universe Zuleyka Rivera, heads the promotional agenda for the feature film, which has already been released in Puerto Rico where it was well received by the public and specialized critics.
The production now seeks to connect with the Dominican audience, presenting a story that explores the generational clash and cultural changes in the Caribbean through music, with a special emphasis on the transition from traditional folklore to new urban rhythms.
Perla emerges as a cinematic proposal that transcends conventional drama, addressing the transformation of cultural identity in a region where genres such as merengue, bachata, and dembow coexist in constant evolution.
The film, directed by David Norris, features an international cast and reinforces its commitment to Caribbean cinema as a vehicle for social and cultural reflection, now expanding its reach towards the Dominican public.
