SANTO DOMINGO.- The Chamber of Deputies was seized this Wednesday of three bills to amend the Penal Code, which were introduced to the daily agenda and sent for discussion to a Bicameral Commission.
The aforementioned projects are the one that modifies article 393 of Law 74-25, which establishes the Penal Code of the Dominican Republic, for the purpose of extending its vacatio legis by an additional six months, proposed by deputy Charlie Marioti Paz.
Another one that modifies articles 112, 114, 150, 208, 210 and 212, adds paragraphs to articles 151 and 209, and repeals articles 310 and 311 of Law 74-25, the organic law that establishes the Penal Code of the Dominican Republic, a proposal by deputy Rogelio Alfonso Genao Lanza.

And a third one that modifies Law 74-25, proposed by deputies Amado Díaz, Carlos de Pérez Juan, Braulio de Jesús Espinal Tavárez, Eduviges María Bautista, Gustavo Sánchez, Jorge Zorrilla González, Julio Emil Durán, Rogelio Alfonso Genao Lanza, Fiordaliza Estévez and Dharuelly D´Aza.
The amendment proposal submitted by the spokespersons of the different political benches, the Vice President of the Chamber of Deputies, and other deputies recommends modifying articles 192 (regarding the dissemination of audio), 208 (on defamation), 310 (regarding outrage), and article 354 (false health status certifications) of the new Penal Code.

At the suggestion of the President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, the proposal to form a Bicameral Commission to study the aforementioned law initiatives was approved.
The commissioned deputies are the members of the Permanent Justice Commission, Mayobanex Martínez, Jorge Tavárez, Carlos de Pérez Juan, Carmen Williams, Carolin Mercedes, Eugenio Cedeño, Jesús Sánchez, José Alberto Jiménez, Luis Alcides Báez, and Wandy Batista, who chairs it. They will join the senators designated by that chamber body.
