Santo Domingo.– The President of the Chamber of Deputies, Alfredo Pacheco, informed that the plenary session is convened for this Thursday with the objective of reviewing the report from the bicameral commission studying the modifications to the Penal Code reform bill and, if possible, approving the initiative.
Pacheco explained that the commission will continue working between Tuesday and Thursday on the review of the proposals presented by different sectors, including the one proposed by the Ombudsman, Pablo Ulloa, before submitting the final report to the chamber.
“We hope to be ready with the report that the bicameral commission will have submitted and to review it in the session called for Thursday at one in the afternoon,” the legislator stated.
The Speaker of the House indicated that, in the event that the process does not conclude during Thursday’s session, there is the possibility of convening an additional session on Friday to continue the consideration of the legislative piece before sending it to the Senate.

Likewise, he pointed out that the proposals received are being evaluated in accordance with the procedures established in the Constitution and the regulations of the National Congress, with the purpose that the commission presents a final report after the corresponding technical analysis.
Pacheco recalled that the current legislative session enters its final stage next week, so he asked the deputies to keep their schedules available to move forward with the project within the scheduled time.
