Child waiting for help for a heart transplant passes away
Santiago. Noah José Tapia, the eight-year-old boy who remained admitted to the Dr. Arturo Grullón Regional University Children’s Hospital while battling dilated cardiomyopathy, a disease that had severely deteriorated his health and for which he needed a heart transplant, passed away this Tuesday.
Over the last few weeks, the minor’s family had made a public appeal to the authorities and the population seeking support to arrange his transfer to a specialized medical center abroad, where he could receive the treatment he urgently required.
His father, Junio Antonio Tapia, had reported that Noah had been hospitalized for almost two months and that his condition was critical. The family even requested the intervention of President Luis Abinader and First Lady Raquel Arbaje, in the hope of expediting the efforts to save his life.
