Santiago. The father of the child Noah José Tapia Pérez, who remains hospitalized at the Arturo Grullón Regional University Children’s Hospital awaiting a heart transplant, reported this Monday that alleged administrative obstacles are preventing him from obtaining photographs and videos of his son, documents he claims are essential to secure support from national and international foundations.
Junior Tapia stated that for several days he has requested authorization from the health center’s management to access audiovisual material of the minor, who has been diagnosed with dilated cardiomyopathy, but so far he has not received a concrete response, a situation that, according to him, delays the possibilities of obtaining the help needed to save his son’s life. The father asserted that various charitable organizations require updated images of the child’s condition as part of the requirements to evaluate requests for financial and medical assistance, which is why he asked hospital authorities to expedite the process.
“I am desperate. I do not want to violate any protocol, but I need to be allowed to keep knocking on doors. My priority is to save my son’s life, and I do not understand why it is so difficult for me to obtain an authorization that could make the difference,” he expressed. Tapia also stated that he felt confused by the guidance received between the hospital management and other levels of the health system, while demanding that a clear procedure be established to avoid further delays in the process.
Furthermore, he maintained that Noah’s emotional state has been affected during his stay at the healthcare center, where he has been admitted for a month and six days, while he continues to wait for the heart transplant he urgently needs.
Authorities at the Arturo Grullón Hospital had not offered a public reaction to the father’s statements at the time of this publication. Meanwhile, family members and loved ones are maintaining a campaign to raise funds and request the population’s solidarity on behalf of the minor.
