Santo Domingo.— The government’s decision to reduce by 50% the funds allocated to political parties continues to generate reactions among citizens, who express divided positions this Friday afternoon on the impact of the measure.
When consulted about the proposal, taking into account that these resources come from the public budget, some favor reduction, while others doubt its effectiveness or ask for greater transparency.
Citizen Denisse Cruz considered that the reduction should be even greater. “It’s good that they are reduced and it should be more, because they take a lot of money“, she affirmed.

For his part, José Antonio Medina showed skepticism about the destination of the funds. “That’s a story… there are people who don’t believe in that“, he expressed, questioning whether changes will really be generated.
Meanwhile, Milanina Tavera pointed out that, although she does not master the political issue, she understands that it is correct for the parties to generate their own resources. “It is not to cover everything completely, but a part“, she indicated.
Another citizen, identified as José, was more forceful in proposing the total elimination of public funding. “That money comes out of the people’s pockets. It’s better that the vote is by conviction, not by investment,” he maintained.
The opinions reflect the citizen’s interest in the management of public resources and the open debate on the financing of political activity in the country.
