Cleaning brigade employee of the La Romana City Hall reports death threats

La Romana. — The young man Jhony Montero Heredia, a resident of the Villa San Carlos sector of this city, reported that he fears for his life after allegedly being threatened with death and physically assaulted by several individuals allegedly linked to a drug sales point operating in his community. According to the complainant, the situation would have originated due to his opposition to the illicit activities that, allegedly, take place near his home, where he resides with his mother and sisters. Jhony Montero, who claimed to be an employee of the cleaning brigade of the La Romana City Hall, stated that on several occasions he has been beaten and harassed by these individuals, who, according to his statements, carry firearms and move through different areas of the sector, sowing fear among the residents.

The young man also stated that he felt completely unprotected, alleging that neither the neighborhood associations nor the different community leaders of the sector have shown support or echoed his complaint and the difficult situation he claims to be facing. Faced with this situation, he urgently called on the authorities of the National Police, the Department of Criminal Investigations (Dicrim), and the National Directorate for Drug Control to intervene immediately and prevent a tragedy from occurring. He also requested protection for himself and his family, while calling for a thorough investigation into the case and the allegations made regarding the alleged criminal activities in the Villa San Carlos sector of La Romana.
