Arroyo Barril, Samaná. – This Sunday, December 14th, the official launch of the Arroyo Barril Tourist Taxi Company (COTTA) S.R.L. took place with great success in the conference hall of the San Antonio Mutual Aid association of the Catholic Church, which will now offer specialized transportation services for visitors, strengthening the tourist infrastructure of the area. The new company is born with the aim of boosting the development of the tourism sector in Arroyo Barril and the entire province, in harmony with the upcoming reopening of the Cruise Terminal of Puerto Duarte Port Samaná, a key project for the region. During the event, COTTA’s president, Sixto Marte, expressed his excitement and gratitude to the company’s members, authorities, and collaborators, stating: “This company came to stay and be a pillar in the tourism growth of Samaná.” For his part, Luis Felipe Fermín, director of the Municipal District of Arroyo Barril, highlighted the importance of preparing for the tourism boom that the arrival of up to two simultaneous cruise ships at the terminal will generate, positioning the town on the international map. Provincial Governor Teodora Mullix (Nini) also celebrated the launch, as a resident of this District, highlighting that COTTA is part of the efforts to regulate and professionalize services in the face of the tourist future. She called on young people to train to serve visitors and thanked President Luis Abinader’s government for prioritizing the reactivation of Puerto Duarte, whose reopening is scheduled for the end of 2026, she highlighted at the end of her speech an applause in memory of Yordani de los Santos for his continuous struggle to make this project reborn. The event was attended at the head table by Mr. Pedro Lamberto Berroa, president of the Las Galeras taxi company, Francisco de la Cruz, Euclides Rodríguez and René Moya, representatives of CONATRA, as well as dozens of members of civil society, community leaders, political, religious and media representatives, who supported this initiative as a key step towards the progress of Arroyo Barril. COTTA S.R.L. thus consolidates itself as a strategic ally for tourism, offering safe and quality transportation, in line with the economic and social growth of Samaná.
