Las Terrenas, Samaná.-The Minister of Education, Luis Miguel De Camps, led this Sunday the inauguration of the Félix Sosa Basic School and the roofing of the Luis Emilio Vanderhorst High School, in the municipality of Las Terrenas, Samaná province, two works that will directly benefit 1,032 students.
De Camps highlighted that the delivery of these spaces represents a commitment to expanding learning and development opportunities for Dominican children.
“Today this community receives a new school, but the Dominican Republic receives something even more important: a place where thousands of boys and girls will be able to develop their capabilities, discover their talents, and build new opportunities for their lives,” he stated.
Likewise, he expressed that each of the spaces delivered is part of a vision instructed by President Luis Abinader, which conceives school infrastructure as a tool to guarantee better learning and development conditions.
“We know that a school will never be great solely because of its infrastructure. Its true strength lies in the people who bring it to life: its teachers, its students, its families, and the entire educational community. It is you who will turn this space into a school capable of transforming lives,” he/she expressed.

Similarly, Sarelin Burgos Martínez, a sixth-grade student at the Félix Sosa Basic School, highlighted the impact that investments in educational infrastructure have on the present and future of the country.
The Félix Sosa Basic School was built through the School Infrastructure Directorate (DIE), led by engineer Roberto Herrera, within the framework of the “Classrooms 24/7-365” plan, with an investment of RD$105,880,842.29. It features eight classrooms, a civic plaza, a sports court with bleachers, a playground, and other spaces designed to ensure an environment conducive to teaching and learning for 350 students.

Likewise, the Government inaugurated the roofing of the Luis Emilio Vanderhorst High School, a project that will benefit both the 682 students of the school and the entire community. The infrastructure, built with an investment of RD$33,030,934.21, features bleachers on the court and a suspended synthetic floor.
The inauguration ceremonies were attended by Teodora Mullix Geraldino, provincial governor; Pedro Catrain, senator for Samaná; Eduardo Esteban Polanco, municipal mayor; Aaron Hernández, regional head of Cibao-Northeast for School Infrastructure, representing the general director of the DIE, Roberto Herrera; María Luisa de la Cruz, director of Regional 14 of Nagua; deputies Carmen Williams and Cecilio García; the director of Educational District 14-07, Sandro de los Santos, and the director of Educational District 14-04, Adalberto Lucía Calcaño.
