Santo Domingo.- The executive vice president of the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), Deligne Ascención, warned that the organization will not allow internal differences to reproduce the conflicts that, according to him, were among the causes that gave rise to the party.
Ascención maintained that the PRM emerged as a response to a crisis of institutionality and assured that its leaders have the responsibility to prevent that history from repeating itself within the organization.
“We are not going to repeat the history that caused us to emerge as a political organization, neither within the organization nor much less outside of it,” he stated during an interview on the radio program “Esto No Tiene Nombre.”
The leader linked that position to the renewal process of the PRM authorities, which recently concluded with the formation of a unitary slate and an agreement between the main sectors of the organization.
Ascensión highlighted that the party has reached a level of maturity that allows it to resolve its differences through dialogue and consensus, rather than taking internal disputes to a confrontation that could affect its structure.
He also pointed out that the institutional strengthening promoted during the administration of President Luis Abinader constitutes one of the elements that, in his view, must be preserved by the organization, both within the party and in its relationship with the country.

The leader maintained that the next challenge will be to maintain that cohesion when the internal competition for the 2028 candidacies arrives, a process that is scheduled for October 2027 through closed-primary elections. For Ascención, the PRM must then demonstrate that it can allow competition among its leaders without repeating the conflicts that in the past ended up causing political ruptures.
