Santo Domingo.– National deputy Ramón Raposo questioned the approval of new loans totaling 465 million dollars, considering that the country should not continue to increase its indebtedness without evidence of concrete results in the use of those resources.
During a session of the Chamber of Deputies, Raposo expressed his opposition to the new loans, noting that the discussion is taking place just hours before the end of the current legislative session and at a time when national attention is focused on the preparations for the Central American and Caribbean Games.
The Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) legislator especially criticized the allocation of 200 million dollars destined for road safety programs, arguing that the authorities in charge of executing those policies have failed to offer effective solutions to the traffic and mobility problems that affect the country.
“We do not agree with continuing to approve loans without the public being able to see results. Regarding road safety, this Government has acted with improvisation and, after six years, the population continues to face the same problems, without clear solutions or public policies that transform the reality of traffic,” stated Raposo.

The deputy maintained that the National Congress must evaluate the approval of new debts with greater rigor and ensure that resources are directed to projects that generate real benefits for the population, accompanied by mechanisms of transparency, supervision, and accountability.
