Santo Domingo. – Congressman Ramón Raposo asked President Luis Abinader this Tuesday to intervene to accelerate the expansion work of Line 1 of the Santo Domingo Metro. He warned that the slow progress of the project is seriously affecting merchants, drivers, and thousands of families in Villa Mella, in North Santo Domingo.
Raposo assured that the residents of Villa Mella support the construction of the Metro, but stated that they cannot continue to endure the chaos generated by the delay of the works.
“The expansion of Metro Line 1 cannot continue to punish Santo Domingo Norte. We all want this project, but we also need it to progress more quickly. Traffic jams are increasing every day, merchants are losing customers, and people are spending hours stuck in traffic,” he expressed.

The legislator from the Dominican Revolutionary Party (PRD) recalled that the expansion works for Line 1 of the Metro began in March 2024. Therefore, he considered that it is time to give the project greater momentum and reduce the impact that the construction is having on the mobility and commercial activity of the municipality.
Raposo called on President Luis Abinader to take the necessary actions to accelerate the work, since the president promised that the project would be completed within a period of three years.
