Divided trust: 41.2% trust Abinader a lot, but 39.1% trust him little or not at all

Almost six out of ten citizens express some degree of trust in the presidential figure.

Santo Domingo.- The most recent National Survey conducted from February 19 to 21, 2026 by the firm Markestrategia reflects a mixed panorama in the levels of confidence towards President Luis Abinader, reflecting that 41.2% of the respondents state that they trust a lot in the president, while 18.0% indicate that they trust something.

However, the study also reveals a significant segment of skepticism. 19.9% state that they have little trust and 19.2% that they have no trust at all, totaling 39.1% who express low or no levels of trust. This distribution reveals a moderate polarization in the public perception, where support is in the majority, but distrust retains considerable weight. The credibility of the presidential speech follows a similar trend. When asked how much they believe the president when he addresses the country, 41.8% responded that they believe him a lot and 17.0% that they believe him somewhat. However, 19.7% expressed that they believe him little and 20.2% that they do not believe him at all, which confirms that public opinion is divided regarding the veracity and consistency of the official message.

Despite that division, the evaluation of overall performance maintains a favorable balance. 52.1% believe that the president has done a lot for the country, while 26.4% understand that he has done little and 18.6% that he has done nothing. These data suggest that, although there may be questioning in specific sectors, a majority recognizes progress or relevant actions during his administration. In view of a possible electoral scenario, the president’s political capital remains competitive. 46.2% say they would vote for him again if he were a presidential candidate again, and 15.5% say they might. In contrast, 32.4% indicate that they would definitely not vote for him. The panorama thus draws a leadership with a solid base of support, but also with a defined opposition that could intensify the political debate in the coming years.
