Santo Domingo.- Agents of the National Drug Control Directorate (DNCD), together with members of the Public Ministry and the support of State intelligence agencies and the Military Security of the Caucedo Multimodal Port, seized 303 packages of a substance presumed to be cocaine.
The seizure took place during an interdiction and intelligence operation carried out at that port terminal, located in the municipality of Boca Chica, Santo Domingo province.
According to the authorities, the operational units received intelligence information that allowed them to intervene in a container that was in transit through Dominican territory. During the inspection, the agents detected inconsistencies in the structure of the lower part of the cargo unit, which led them to activate the corresponding protocol.
Upon conducting a more thorough inspection, the authorities found the packages hermetically hidden in the floor of the container. According to the cargo manifest, the van was transporting timber, originated from Peru, and had the United Kingdom as its final destination.
To access the compartment where the cargo was hidden, the agents used specialized cutting and extraction tools, with which they managed to remove the 303 packages from the bottom of the container.

The DNCD and the Public Ministry maintain an open investigation with the objective of identifying and arresting the members of the alleged international drug trafficking network responsible for the shipment.
The authorities indicated that this seizure is part of the actions aimed at strengthening operational capacity to confront drug trafficking, transnational crime, and other related offenses.
The 303 packages were sent under chain of custody to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences (INACIF), where they will undergo analysis to determine the type of substance and its exact weight.
