Santiago. Doctor Óscar Polanco appeared before the Public Prosecutor’s Office to be questioned as part of the investigation into the death of 32-year-old Angélica Geraldine Hernández, who passed away on March 26 while undergoing an aesthetic procedure at Clínica Diosa, in Santiago.

The interview with the prosecutors lasted for approximately one hour. Upon concluding, the physician’s defense stated that their client cooperated with the authorities, answered all questions asked, and provided the documentation required to contribute to the investigative process.

The lawyers explained that Polanco attended as a person under investigation, although they insisted that he had no participation in the surgical intervention that ended in Hernández’s death.

Likewise, they maintained that the specialist stopped providing services at the Diosa Clinic in 2023, following a provision issued by health authorities, which is why they assert that he did not have any employment relationship with the health center at the time of the incident.

According to the version offered by the defense, the doctor also stated during the interrogation that he did not know the patient and that he was never involved in the procedure to which she was subjected.

The legal representatives pointed out that, after complying with the Public Prosecutor’s Office’s requirement, it is now up to the investigators to analyze the collected evidence and continue with the proceedings to establish responsibilities in the case.

Diosa Clinic has been under public scrutiny since a journalistic report revealed alleged irregularities in its operations, including complaints about the conducting of short-term cosmetic surgery courses in which trainee doctors performed surgical procedures on patients.

Authorities continue investigations to clarify the circumstances surrounding the death of Angélica Geraldine Hernández and to determine if there are any criminal or administrative liabilities arising from the case.
