The Dominican residing in Paraguay for six years is considered “a key player in the distribution of synthetic drugs in the Central department”.
Paraguayan authorities seized more than 50,000 ecstasy doses from a Dominican citizen who was transporting the drug in a suitcase and who they presume was going to distribute it in the Central department, the National Anti-Drug Secretariat (Senad) reported this Saturday.
The anti-drug agency carried out an operation on a highway in the center of the country, on the border between the cities of Villa Elisa and Fernando de la Mora, where a 32-year-old man who was riding a motorcycle with the cargo was intercepted, the Senad indicated in a statement.
The man, of Dominican nationality but residing in Paraguay for six years, is considered “a key player in the distribution of drugs synthetic in the Central department”, especially, in events, concerts and activities with a high attendance of young people, the source indicated.
Inside the suitcase, the agents found “
50,000 ecstasy pills equivalent to about 25 kilos of the substance“.
The Senad considered the seizure as a “significant blow to the micro-trafficking networks” that distribute the drug in urban environments, noting that the value of the shipment would exceed 5,000 million guaraníes (about $765,546).
The detainee and the evidence were transferred to a Senad operations base, where the process of verification, counting, and analysis of the seized substances began, the entity said.
