Curaçao. – After more than two decades without legal recognition, a young woman who lived for 24 years as a stateless person finally received her identity document, marking a transcendental event both in her life and in Dominican consular management abroad.
The document was delivered this Saturday by Doctor
Carlos A. Ramírez Filpo, Consul General designate in Curaçao, who highlighted that what seemed for years an endless process was resolved in just one week, thanks to the articulated work of his team.
“This is an act of justice and human dignity,” expressed the diplomat, while thanking President Luis Abinader for his appointment, as well as Chancellor Roberto Álvarez and Vice Minister Opinio Díaz for the trust and guidance provided to materialize this type of management.
Ramírez Filpo also valued the commitment of his consular team, made up of five vice-consuls, whose performance was key to achieving this result in record time.
The young beneficiary, visibly moved, expressed her deep gratitude to the Dominican consulate through tears and smiles. “Today I feel that I exist, that I have a place in the world”, she stated.
This case highlights the importance of active and effective diplomacy, as well as the human impact that can be generated when the resolution of historical situations of vulnerability is prioritized.
