Santo Domingo.- The Dominican Episcopal Conference (CED) expressed its solidarity with the Colombian people, especially with the families affected by the earthquake registered in the Chocó department.
The earthquake had its epicenter in the municipality of San José del Palmar, where it left people affected and triggered search, rescue, and assistance efforts.
The CED sent its message to Monsignor Francisco Javier Múnera Correa, Archbishop of Cartagena and President of the Episcopal Conference of Colombia, to whom it expressed its spiritual accompaniment amidst the situation that nation is going through.
In their statement, the Dominican bishops extended their prayers to the families of the victims, as well as to the people who were injured, missing, or have had to leave their homes because of the phenomenon.
The institution also made its support mechanisms available to Colombia, including the National Commission for Social Pastoral Care Caritas Dominicana, as a sign of solidarity and willingness to collaborate in the face of any needs that may arise.

Likewise, he asked for strength for the authorities, relief agencies, doctors, volunteers, and other people working in emergency and recovery efforts.
Finally, the CED offered its prayers for the Colombian people and asked that faith and hope accompany the affected families during this moment of pain.
