Dominican Republic exported US$7,897.8 million in the first semester: 14.8% more

The Dominican Republic continues to consolidate its position as a regional economic powerhouse by recording a historic performance in its export sector during the first half of 2026. Between January and June, it exported a record cumulative figure of US$7,897.8 million, which represents a year-on-year growth of 14.8% and an absolute increase of US$1,018.4 million compared to the same period of the previous year.
The Executive Director of ProDominicana, Biviana Riveiro Disla, highlighted that these results demonstrate the competitiveness of the Dominican exportable supply and the impact of the strategies implemented to strengthen the country’s presence in international markets.
In the month of June 2026 alone, exports reached US$1,498.5 million, the highest monthly export value in the country’s entire history. This figure represents a year-on-year growth of 17.4%, equivalent to an absolute increase of US$221.7 million compared to June 2025. This result reaffirms the strength and resilience of the Dominican export sector, as well as the growing demand for national products in international markets.
This performance was reflected in the main export regimes. Free trade zones reached US$819.0 million, with a year-on-year growth of 8.0%, and accounted for 54.6% of the total exported. Meanwhile, the national regime recorded exports of US$651.8 million, which represented an increase of 35.4% compared to June 2025 and a 45.4% share of the monthly total.
Regarding destination markets, the United States remained the main trading partner in June 2026, with exports of US$683.5 million and a year-on-year growth of 8.2%. It was followed by Canada, with US$263.9 million and an increase of 211.1%, and Haiti, with US$115.9 million and a growth of 11.8%.
This dynamism exhibited greater geographical diversification, as 80 countries recorded year-on-year increases in Dominican exports. In terms of absolute growth, the following stand out: Canada, with an additional US$179.1 million; Switzerland, with US$75.2 million, both driven mainly by the increase in exports of raw gold; the United States, with US$52.0 million; and Haiti, with US$12.3 million.
Among the main products exported during June, raw gold stood out, with a value of US$341.7 million and a year-on-year growth of 84.2%; medical instruments and appliances, with US$113.8 million and an increase of 5.9%; electrical circuit breakers, with US$89.3 million and a growth of 17.6%; and cigars, whose exports reached US$88.5 million, for a year-on-year increase of 9.3%.
