The Dominican Republic registered a total of 24,711 divorces during the year 2025, reflecting a decrease of 6.29% compared to 2024, when 26,369 legal separations were recorded in the country. This is established by the report “Vital Statistics Yearbook 2025”, published by the National Statistics Office (ONE), which details the behavior of marriages and divorces nationwide. According to the report, 8,459 couples chose to divorce due to incompatibility of characters, a figure that represents 34.23% of the total cases registered during the past year. Meanwhile, the remaining percentage corresponds to divorces carried out by mutual consent, a modality that continues to be the most used by Dominican couples when formalizing their separation.
