Kyiv.— The Ukrainian Air Force reported that during New Year’s Eve night and the early hours of New Year’s Day, it shot down 176 of the 205 drones that Russia launched against its territory, as part of the war that both countries have been waging since 2022.
The conflict continues into its fourth year, with daily fighting and offensive operations on various fronts. The use of drones by both sides has marked recent hostilities, while international efforts to move towards peace negotiations persist.
The humanitarian and security situation remains critical, with frequent attacks on infrastructure and populated areas, as well as significant material and human losses on both sides of the conflict.
