Panama.– Dominican Republic is participating in an international meeting that brings together security and defense authorities from different countries in the Americas to coordinate strategies against drug trafficking and transnational criminal organizations.
The Dominican delegation is led by the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre, and also includes security, intelligence, and defense officials from the country.
The delegation includes the Vice Minister of Internal Security of the Ministry of Interior and Police, Edwin Eusebio Féliz Brito; the Director of the National Department of Investigations (DNI), Luis Soto; the Director of Intelligence of the Ministry of Defense, Brigadier General Enrique Armando Aguilera Trujillo, ERD; and the Dominican liaison for the Shield of the Americas initiative, Brigadier General Edgar Tiburcio.
The Coalition of the Americas Against Cartels (A3C) forum is taking place in Panama on August 11 and 12, with the participation of representatives from around 18 countries in the hemisphere.
During the sessions, the main threats facing the region are analyzed, and topics such as intelligence sharing, border security, and the coordination of actions to confront the financial and logistical structures of criminal organizations are addressed.

The United States is also participating with a high-level delegation, composed of civil and military authorities linked to the areas of defense and security.
For the Dominican Republic, the meeting represents a space to strengthen collaboration with the United States and other countries in the region, as well as to strengthen the exchange of information to combat crimes that operate beyond borders.

The participation also seeks to contribute to joint efforts to improve the surveillance and protection of the country’s land, maritime, and air spaces against drug trafficking and other organized crime activities.
With their presence at the forum, the Dominican authorities reiterate their willingness to maintain regional cooperation as part of the strategies to address the threats affecting the security of the hemisphere.
