Santo Domingo.– Several employees of the Empresa de Electricidad del Este (Edeeste) sponsored schoolchildren from low-income communities in Los Tres Brazos in Santo Domingo Este and the municipality of Peralvillo, in Monte Plata.
For approximately 45 days, Edeeste collaborators were motivated to purchase with their own resources backpacks for boys and girls, which inside contain notebooks, pencils, pens, lunch boxes, erasers, sharpeners, colored pencils, glue, scissors, among other items suitable for use during the school year.
Under the coordination of Edeeste’s Social Responsibility Management, the distributor impacted 87 children from the José María Manzueta Educational Center in the municipality of Peralvillo, Monte Plata province. It had the support and follow-up of community leader Pedro Manzueta.
Meanwhile, in Los Tres Brazos, Santo Domingo Este, the company delivered school supplies to 90 children with the support of community actors Andrés Ruiz, Alberto Fernández, Maritza Medina, Josefina Villa Nueva, Cándida Gonell, Eulalia Ogando, Brígido Brito and Edward Valdez.
The distribution company took advantage of both deliveries to give its talk on “Energy Efficiency”, in which children are encouraged to be the instrument for the correct use of energy to be promoted in their homes and for it to be practiced by their parents.
The Social Responsibility team also delivered a total of 49 backpacks, also equipped with the necessary supplies, to the Luz del Futuro Home School Foundation, thus continuing its support for Dominican education.
