“El Mello” extradited from Spain to face justice for double homicide that occurred in Santiago

Santiago.- The National Police received Claudio Sebastián Grullón Liriano, alias “El Mello”, in the country, extradited from the Kingdom of Spain to answer to the Dominican justice system for his alleged involvement in a double homicide and gunshot wounds caused to three other people during an incident that occurred in 2021 in this city.

The defendant was handed over to the Dominican authorities at Las Américas International Airport, after being located in Spanish territory, where he had remained a fugitive.

His capture and subsequent extradition were carried out in compliance with arrest warrant No. 2025-AJ0071382 and an international red notice issued for his location.

According to the police report, the file is linked to the shooting recorded on January 20, 2021, in the Puchún Abajo alley, in the Ensanche Espaillat sector, where Francisco Adolfo de la Cruz, known as “El Negrito,” and Wander de Jesús Rodríguez, alias “El Coro,” died. In the same incident, three other people were wounded by gunshot impacts.

National Police investigations indicate that the incident was likely caused by a dispute between rival groups over the control of the sale and distribution of controlled substances in the area.

The law enforcement institution also reported that, upon being checked in police records, Grullón Liriano appears with a record for robbery, in addition to remaining a fugitive for this judicial process.

Upon his arrival in the country, “El Mello” was placed at the disposal of the Public Prosecutor’s Office, which will continue the corresponding legal process for the acts of which he is accused.
