Santiago Rodríguez.– The Collegiate Court of the Judicial District of Santiago Rodríguez sentenced the former provincial director of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and MSMEs (MICM), Carlos Juan Rodríguez García, to 30 years in prison after finding him guilty of the homicide of a married couple and causing serious injuries to two other people during an incident that occurred in June 2022.
According to the ruling, Rodríguez García was found responsible for causing the shooting deaths of Juan de los Santos Peralta Barrios and Marielis Anabel Vargas Villalona, in addition to seriously wounding Erlin Alberto Gómez Rodríguez and Eduar de Jesús Espinal Fernández.
The crime occurred on June 7, 2022, at a food establishment located at a gas station in the municipality of Villa Los Almácigos, in the Santiago Rodríguez province, where a violent incident was recorded that shocked the community.

The decision was adopted by the Collegiate Court, presided over by Judge Dayanara Peralta and composed of judges Risel Peña Morel and Norma Zapata, who accepted the evidence presented by the Public Prosecutor’s Office and handed down the maximum sentence requested against the defendant.
With this conviction, the court concludes one of the most impactful judicial processes recorded in the province, by imposing a 30-year prison sentence for the events that claimed the lives of two people and left two others with serious injuries.
