For her part, Mayor Betty Gerónimo highlighted that since the early hours of the morning she has been touring the critical points of the municipality, supervising the cleaning of drains and drainage systems with the aim of guaranteeing the free flow of rainwater.“We are acting immediately in the most vulnerable points to avoid further damage. Other ravines will also be intervened in the coming days as a preventive measure against the effects of the storm Melissa,” said Henríquez.
During the day, the head of Civil Defense of the municipality, Miguel Marte, was also present, who highlighted that the institution has more than 300 volunteers ready to act in the event of any eventuality that could arise due to the rains.“We are working tirelessly with municipal teams and support institutions to protect our communities. We ask the residents to collaborate and not throw garbage in the ravines or streets during the rainy days,” expressed Geronimo.
