New York.– Businessman Elon Musk became the first person in history this Friday to reach a fortune exceeding one trillion dollars, following the successful stock market debut of SpaceX, the aerospace company he founded in 2002, which saw the largest initial public offering recorded to date.

SpaceX’s initial public offering (IPO) placed approximately 5% of the company’s shares on the market at a price of $135 per share, raising about $75 billion. The operation initially valued the company at nearly $1.8 trillion and, following the start of trading on the Nasdaq, the market capitalization exceeded $2.1 trillion.

SpaceX shares began trading at around $150 and posted strong gains throughout the day, driven by high demand from institutional and retail investors. The stock market performance immediately boosted the value of Musk’s stake in the company and allowed him to surpass the trillion-dollar threshold in personal net worth.

According to estimates published by various financial media, Musk’s stake in SpaceX is valued at more than $700 billion, while his shares in Tesla and his investments in other companies, such as xAI, Neuralink, Starlink, and The Boring Company, complete a fortune that exceeds $1.1 trillion.

SpaceX’s IPO far surpassed the previous record held by the oil company Saudi Aramco and became the largest operation of its kind in the history of financial markets. The company attracted purchase requests for hundreds of billions of dollars, reflecting investor confidence in the aerospace sector and in technological projects linked to artificial intelligence.

Founded with the goal of developing technologies for space exploration and facilitating the colonization of Mars, SpaceX has established itself as a global leader in space launches, satellite services, and global connectivity projects through Starlink. The company maintains strategic contracts with NASA and the United States government, in addition to a dominant position in the commercial space transportation market.

The historic stock market debut also generated benefits for thousands of employees and early investors of the company. Various reports indicate that more than 4,000 workers became millionaires thanks to the valuation of their shareholdings after the market launch.

Musk’s rise to the status of the world’s first trillionaire has reignited the debate over the concentration of wealth and the growing economic power of major tech entrepreneurs. Organizations and analysts have pointed out that his fortune exceeds the gross domestic product of several countries and is equivalent to a significant portion of the global wealth accumulated by individuals.

Despite the milestone reached, specialists warn that the magnate’s fortune will continue to fluctuate depending on the performance of SpaceX and Tesla shares, so the exact value of his net worth could vary as financial markets evolve.
