Eric Dane, actor known for his roles as Mark Sloan in Grey’s Anatomy and Cal Jacobs in Euphoria, passed away at the age of 53, almost a year after he made public his diagnosis of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), a neurodegenerative disease that progressively deteriorates muscle functions. The actor had shared in 2025 that he was facing this serious illness, a revelation that marked the beginning of a complex period in his personal and professional life. It was his family who confirmed his passing through a statement published by People magazine: “With great sadness, we inform you that Eric Dane passed away on Thursday afternoon after a brave battle against ALS. He spent his last days surrounded by dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters, Billie and Georgia, who were the center of his life.”
