United States.- An intense heat wave continues to affect a large part of the United States territory, moving from the Midwest toward the East Coast and creating conditions considered dangerous by meteorological authorities.
According to the National Weather Service (NWS), about 238 million people, equivalent to nearly 70% of the country’s population, are exposed this Thursday to high temperatures and high humidity.
The most severe alerts cover states such as New York, New Jersey, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Georgia, Tennessee, North Carolina, Kentucky, West Virginia, Virginia, Maryland, Alabama, and Mississippi, among others.
Authorities warn that the phenomenon will continue throughout the July 4th weekend, with a combination of stifling humidity and extreme temperatures that could create record-breaking conditions in several areas of the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic.
