Santo Domingo.– Juan Confesor Javier Ovalles came to De Último Minuto to request the intervention of the authorities, after reporting that he has had no contact with his 8-year-old daughter since June 10, following a custody dispute with the child’s mother.
Ovalles explained that, according to his version, the child’s mother, Mariana Del Valle Valero, took the minor abruptly from his residence when he was returning with her from school. He claimed to have a video of the moment and stated that he is unaware of the current conditions in which his daughter is being held.
“It has been approximately a month and a half since I last heard from my daughter; I don’t know if she is eating, if she is alive,” expressed the father, who went to the authorities to request follow-up on the case.
According to the documents submitted, the man filed a complaint with the Gender and Intrafamily Violence Unit of Santo Domingo Este on June 18, 2026, while there is also a process before the First Civil Chamber of the Children, Adolescents and Family Court of the Judicial District of Santo Domingo, related to the visitation and custody regime of the minor.
The documents state that both parties were summoned by the Children and Adolescents Prosecutor’s Office of the Santo Domingo province to address a process related to the transfer and retention of the minor.

Ovalles also indicated that he opposes the girl being moved to Venezuela and asked the Children and Adolescents Court to intervene to ensure his daughter’s well-being.

The father denied the accusations that, according to him, the mother had filed against him and asserted that he has never committed violence against her. Likewise, he requested that the judicial process be conducted with transparency and that his bond with the minor be taken into account.
So far, the information presented corresponds to the complainant’s version and the case continues in the corresponding courts.
