The owner of the affected home was identified as Julio Disney Barett, 79 years old.

Cause of the fire

According to preliminary data collected at the scene, the fire originated when Mr. Barett was burning a wasp, at which point the fire reached a bed inside the house, causing the rapid spread of the flames. The report was issued by the head of the Las Galeras Fire Department, Ramón Emilio Vera Peralta, who confirmed that the situation was brought under control without any casualties being reported. This fact once again highlights the importance of taking precautionary measures when handling fire in domestic environments, especially in vulnerable homes.
