The graduates come from the provinces of San Pedro de Macorís, La Romana, El Seibo, Hato Mayor and La Altagracia, a territory where the greatest tourist activity of the Dominican Republic is concentrated, with poles such as Punta Cana, Bávaro, Bayahibe, Dominicus and Higüey, which demand specialized services, qualified talent and personnel with high quality standards. First Lady Raquel Arbaje highlighted the technical careers pursued by the graduates and stated that they respond to the real demands of the Eastern region, “especially in sectors such as tourism and industry, where their preparation will be essential.” “The training received at Infotep allows them to meet increasingly demanding profiles and aspire to decent and quality jobs. To each graduate, men and women, I sincerely congratulate them. They represent the force that drives the development and collective well-being of our country,” he expressed. Santos Badía affirmed that this new promotion represents a decisive contribution to the sustained growth of the Dominican economy and, especially, to the hotel and tourism industry of the Eastern Region. “Today we once again seal our commitment to society and to this thriving region by delivering to the country 1,177 new professionals trained to join companies or undertake with dignity. This technical talent is vital to sustain the leadership of the tourism and hotel industry in the East, which receives visitors from all over the world and demands competent, ethical, and innovative personnel,” he expressed. The provincial governor of La Altagracia, Daysi D’Oleo, highlighted that the entire region celebrates the effort, dedication, and commitment to contribute to society of the more than a thousand technicians who received their titles, while highlighting the impact of Infotep in the province and all the surrounding communities. For her part, María del Pilar Martínez, director of Human Talent at Sanctuary Cap Cana, affirmed that Infotep is a bridge to quality employment. “Infotep has programs tailored to the demand of each sector, technical professional training is the smartest investment we can make,” Martínez expressed. In addition to the 1,177 technicians, Infotep awarded titles to 131 facilitators graduated from the National Center for Teacher Development of Infotep, with which the number of graduates totals 1,308. The act is part of the ordinary graduation cycle, with which Infotep has delivered to society 5,651 technicians and 758 teachers, for a total of 6,409 new graduates in the North, Gran Santo Domingo and Distrito Nacional, South and East regions.
Training in 23 key occupations
Santos Badía also highlighted that the promotion includes training in 23 occupations, including Hairdressing, Industrial Electrical Installation and Maintenance, Vehicle Maintenance, Nursing, Gastronomy, Bakery, Pastry, Sales, Pharmacy, and Refrigeration.
Also, Bar and Restaurant, Telecommunications, Hotel Floor Management, Body and Therapeutic Massage, Boilers, Plumbing, Aesthetics, Operation of Agricultural Equipment, Accounting, Medical Imaging, Maintenance of Power Plants, and Facilitation of Teaching Processes.
He also highlighted the dual qualification of students from the Ministry of Education-Infotep agreement, belonging to the María Auxiliadora Polytechnic (MIR Foundation), in the occupations of Industrial Pattern of Clothing and Pastry.
He underlined the emblematic case of 16 women from Isla Saona who graduated as Technicians in Body and Therapeutic Massage, “a fundamental occupation in a destination that receives tourists daily from different countries.”
