American influencer Gabbie González, known for her lifestyle and motherhood content on social media, has been arrested in Los Angeles accused of participating in an alleged plot to assassinate her ex-partner, singer Jack Avery, former member of the boy band ‘Why Don’t We’ and father of the daughter they have in common. Authorities also arrested Francisco González, father of the content creator and lawyer based in Florida, identified as one of the key figures behind the alleged conspiracy. According to the federal indictment, both he and Gabbie face charges of conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and incitement to crime. The case would be related to an intense legal dispute over the custody of Lavender, the seven-year-old daughter of the former couple. According to court documents, during the process Gabbie would have described Avery as a “dangerous” and “incapable” father, while investigations indicate that, since 2021, she began conversations with her father about the possibility of hiring a hitman. The investigation claims that Francisco Gonzalez first tried to gather compromising material against the singer, including photographs of him smoking or drinking, to harm him in court. Subsequently, the plan would have escalated to seeking people who would intimidate or directly attack the musician. We recommend reading:

Among those involved is Kai Cordrey, a surf instructor in Hawaii and Gabbie’s partner at the time, who allegedly acted as an intermediary. According to the complaint, Cordrey used the dark web to contact who he believed was a hitman. Authorities say that Francisco González transferred thousands of dollars intended to pay for the alleged crime, some of them disguised as payments for “web development services”.

However, the supposed hitman turned out to be an undercover agent of the FBI. In conversations recorded by the investigators, the accused would have confirmed payments, identified the target and discussed different ways to execute the plan without raising suspicions, including the possibility of simulating a car accident. The arrest of Gabbie Gonzalez has generated a strong impact on social media due to the popularity of the influencer, who has accumulated hundreds of thousands of followers on Instagram and TikTok. Before her arrest, she shared posts related to travel, surfing, and family life. Jack Avery, for his part, achieved fame as a member of ‘Why Don’t We’, a youth group that was successful in the late 2010s. He is currently developing his career as a soloist and recently released the single ‘XOXOX’. Months ago, the singer revealed in an interview that the FBI had warned him about an alleged plan to attack his life, although he then assured that he did not know who was behind the threat. Gabbie Gonzalez remains in custody without bail while the judicial process advances in California. Her father remains in custody in Florida.
