Government to investigate causes of national blackout after restoring service
Santo Domingo.- The Minister of Energy and Mines, Joel Santos, informed that the authorities will initiate a thorough technical investigation to determine the causes of the national blackout recorded this Monday in the country.
During a press conference held at the Energy Control Center of the Dominican Electric Transmission Company (ETED), the official explained that, although the outage of the 138 Hainamosa–Duarte line was preliminarily identified as the event that caused the interruption, the specific technical reasons will have to be analyzed in detail.
Santos specified that, in accordance with established protocols, the immediate priority was to restore the electrical service in the shortest possible time, a process that was progressing gradually throughout the national territory.
“Once the system is fully restored, as protocol dictates, we will proceed to conduct a detailed investigation to determine the causes behind this situation”, the minister indicated.
