“A gesture of love and companionship that brought hope to 40 patients in vulnerable conditions”Santo Domingo.- The Heroes of Health Foundation held the solidarity day “My heart accompanied” at the Leprosarium of Nigua, impacting 40 patients, including residents and outpatients, who receive care at the center.
More than an activity, it was an encounter filled with empathy. Volunteers shared quality time, active listening, and basic care, reminding each patient that their story matters and that they are not alone. Amid smiles, sincere conversations, and simple gestures, seeds of hope were sown in a population that often faces isolation and oblivion.
“Serving is recognizing the dignity of the other. Today we not only accompany patients; we share hope and reaffirm that no one is alone,” expressed the president of the foundation, Chantal Brenes.
This day is part of the permanent commitment of the Heroes of Health Foundation with the comprehensive accompaniment and the construction of a more supportive and aware society.
