Honduras will seek to strengthen its cooperation relations with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and analyze financing opportunities during the Ministerial Dialogue of the Americas in the Center, a meeting that will bring together in Panama ministers and economic authorities from Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
The Honduran delegation will be led by the Minister of Finance, Emilio Hernández Hércules, accompanied by Deputy Minister Roberto Chang. Both will participate in work sessions aimed at identifying mechanisms to boost economic growth and address the region’s main challenges.
The meeting will be developed around a regional agenda focused on increasing productivity, strengthening economic integration, improving resilience to climate challenges, and promoting sustainable development in the countries of Central America, Panama, and the Dominican Republic.
Hercules highlighted to Infobae that the meeting represents an opportunity to review the projects that Honduras is developing with the support of the IDB and to analyze new initiatives that could benefit the country.
The official explained that the America in the Center program concentrates various projects that the international financial organization executes in coordination with the governments of the region, so Honduras’ participation will allow for the discovery of new possibilities for cooperation and the monitoring of initiatives that are already underway.

The minister pointed out that the intention of the Honduran delegation is to take advantage of the space for dialogue to identify what other programs could be managed through IDB cooperation.

“Let’s see what else we can obtain and we will also take the opportunity to follow up on the different loans we have with the IDB and possible future projects in order to review this portfolio and see if we continue to reorient resources,” he stated.
The portfolio review will allow, according to the official, to evaluate the progress of existing projects, determine current needs and analyze if some resources can be redirected towards priority areas for the country.
