“I fear for my life,” woman reports death threats from her ex-partner in Monte Plata

Monte Plata.– Mrs. Librada de los Santos Contreras, known as “Tía”, reported that she fears for her life and requested the judicial authorities that her ex-partner, Yeuris Cuello, remain in prison, alleging that she has been a victim of death threats and physical aggressions.

The woman explained that she met Cuello in 2014 and that they got married in 2015. During the time they lived together, she claimed to have suffered physical and psychological abuse, as well as constant humiliation, a situation that, according to her, caused her health conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and depression, for which she has needed medical attention. She pointed out that during the marriage her then-husband was absent for long periods and that, upon returning, he maintained violent behavior, threatening to kill her if she reported him to the authorities.

After the divorce due to incompatibility of characters, Contreras stated that the situation did not cease. She indicated that last month she was again physically assaulted and that her ex-partner, who is currently incarcerated in the CCR-9 Correction and Rehabilitation Center of Monte Plata, has allegedly threatened her from prison.

“My life is at risk. I don’t want this man to carry out his threat,” expressed the complainant, while calling on the authorities to take urgent measures to guarantee her safety and prevent a possible tragedy.
