Iconic vintage cars in Havana stop due to gasoline shortage
Havana, Cuba. – The traditional classic cars that roam the streets of Havana, considered one of the most representative symbols of Cuban tourism, have begun to reduce their operations due to the fuel shortage affecting the country.
Owners and drivers of these vintage vehicles reported the difficulties they face in acquiring gasoline, a situation that has forced many to keep their cars parked or to significantly reduce the trips they offer to both residents and foreign visitors.
The well-known American vehicles from the 1940s and 1950s are part of the tourist image of the Cuban capital and constitute an important source of income for hundreds of families dedicated to transportation and tourist tours.

The fuel supply crisis has impacted various sectors of the Cuban economy, including public and private transport, generating long lines at service stations and limiting the population’s mobility.
Drivers consulted pointed out that the lack of gasoline has caused a decrease in their income, since many tourists seek to tour the city aboard these iconic cars, considered one of the main attractions of Havana.
The situation also affects tourism activity at a time when the country is seeking to strengthen the arrival of international visitors and recover the levels of economic activity linked to the sector.
Cuban classic cars are recognized worldwide for their preservation and functionality despite their age, becoming one of the most well-known postcards of the Caribbean island and a symbol of Cuba’s cultural identity.
