San Juan.– Hundreds of citizens have joined the concentration in the province of San Juan called by social and environmental organizations in rejection of mining exploitation in the area.
With slogans like “Water is not negotiated, it is defended” and carrying banners, the protesters began the journey towards the Sabaneta dam wall, a symbolic place chosen to express their concern about the impact that mining activity could have on the water resources of the province.
The mobilization, organized by the United Southwest Movement for Water and Life, brings together community members, social, religious leaders and representatives from various sectors, who have reiterated their opposition to mining projects that, they say, would put at risk the water sources that supply thousands of families.

During the day, a large presence of authorities and security agencies was observed, who remain vigilant to guarantee order and the peaceful development of the activity.
The organizers have insisted that the march take place in a civic and peaceful manner, while also calling on the Government to listen to the clamor of the San Juan population in defense of their natural resources.
