Indotel and the Dominican Air Force sign agreement to boost technological infrastructure at San Isidro Air Base

Santo Domingo. – The Dominican Institute of Telecommunications (Indotel) and the Dominican Republic Air Force (FARD) signed a collaboration agreement to establish a project for the installation of technological infrastructure at the San Isidro Air Base, aimed at strengthening communications security, air defense, and the strategic capabilities of the Dominican State. The agreement was signed by the president of the Board of Directors of Indotel, Guido Gómez Mazara, and the general commander of the Dominican Republic Air Force, Major General Pilot Floreal Suárez Martínez. The initiative contemplates the articulation of technical and operational efforts to improve connectivity, real-time communication, the protection of information systems, and airspace surveillance, key elements for operational efficiency, threat detection, and the security of strategic operations.

Guido Gómez Mazara, president of the Board of Directors of INDOTEL, stated that digital transformation is a fundamental axis for the development of Dominican society and emphasized that technology constitutes an essential tool to face the current challenges of the country, from security to the modernization of the State. The telecommunications official maintained that public policies only achieve true effectiveness when they incorporate the component of modernity that technology provides, while highlighting the strategic value of the Dominican Air Force for national defense and development, reiterating that the institutional commitment to the country must translate into concrete and sustained actions. “Our duty is to contribute, from each institutional space, to the strengthening of the Dominican nation,” said Gómez Mazara, highlighting that this initiative is supported by the Telecommunications Development Fund. On his part, the general commander of the Dominican Republic Air Force, Major General Pilot Floreal Suárez Martínez, highlighted the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and the impact of technology in strengthening public management, while valuing the support offered by Indotel for the modernization of its systems and operational processes. “Today we are taking a big step that puts us at the technological forefront and strengthens the modernization of our institution. The strengthening of our technological infrastructure directly affects our response capacity, the security of communications and the efficient execution of operations linked to defense, sovereignty and the protection of the national territory,” he pointed out. This project is framed within the principle of universal service and the strategic role of the Telecommunications Development Fund (FDT), an instrument through which Indotel promotes initiatives aimed at closing technological gaps and strengthening critical infrastructures for the country, in accordance with the provisions of the General Telecommunications Law no. 153-98. The agreement establishes mechanisms for inter-institutional coordination, information exchange under confidentiality criteria, and the designation of technical links, in order to ensure the correct planning, execution, monitoring, and evaluation of the actions derived from this collaboration. Both institutions agreed that this alliance represents a significant step towards greater integration between the telecommunications sector and the entities responsible for national security and defense, betting on innovation, efficiency, and sustainability as pillars of institutional development. The agreement will have an initial term of two years, with the possibility of renewal by mutual agreement, reaffirming the Dominican State’s commitment to technological modernization, inter-institutional coordination, and the strengthening of strategic capacities at the service of the national interest.
