Santo Domingo.-The National Police, in coordination with the Public Ministry, reported that it has made significant progress in the investigation of the armed robbery against the Popi Oro jewelry store, located in the Cristo Rey sector, in the National District, with the arrest of two alleged suspects and the identification of other participants.
The authorities identified inmate Juan Alexander Gálvez Marte, alias “Alex Bronx,” as the alleged coordinator of the event, who is serving a 30-year sentence at the La Victoria Correction and Rehabilitation Center. During a search carried out with the authorization of the Public Ministry, 28 cell phones of different brands and models were seized from him.
Subsequently, the intern was transferred to the National Police headquarters for the corresponding legal purposes and will be brought before the justice system for his alleged involvement in the assault.
Within the framework of the investigations, Hensy Yoel Reynoso Abreu, known as “Hensy”, was also arrested, identified as a lieutenant of “Alex Bronx”. According to the authorities, Reynoso Abreu would have sold one of the stolen items and participated in the purchase of the vehicle used in the assault, along with other members of the gang.
The Police also identified Sebastián Ortiz Maldonado, alias “Gilbert,” as one of the participants in the robbery. He later died during a violent incident that occurred the following morning after the assault in an entertainment center in Nisibón, in the province of La Altagracia. In that incident, Wendrick Villegas Santana, the owner of the establishment, also died, and two other people were injured.
During the investigative process, the authorities have collected multiple pieces of evidence, including a gray Mitsubishi Endeavor jeep, license plate G185926, used for the escape and later found crashed against a tree on Paseo de los Reyes Católicos Avenue.
In addition, 10 yellow chains, a communication radio, seven plastic displays, three masks with aging characteristics, two balaclavas, a blonde wig, tools used to violate the establishment, a charger for a Glock .40 caliber pistol with capsules, as well as several casings and other elements that will be analyzed by the corresponding organizations were seized.
Authorities are actively searching for other individuals involved, identified as Wilmer Rafael Solano García (“El Mello Sangriento”), Wilner Rafael Solano García (“El Mello Loco”), Deiby (“Deiby the Hitman”), Lenin, “El Mocho”, “El Grande” or “El Cojo”, and Justin Guerrero (“El Boricua”).
