Shots fired and jewelry store assaulted in Cristo Rey; criminals cause damage with gunfire

Santo Domingo. – A jewelry store located in the Cristo Rey sector, in the National District, was shot at and allegedly robbed by several criminals on the afternoon of this Saturday, in an event that generated alarm among the residents of the area. The incident occurred at the establishment Popi Oro, located on 37th Street No. 49 of the aforementioned sector, where as yet unidentified individuals fired several shots at the premises before perpetrating the alleged robbery. In videos sent to this newsroom, it can be observed that the glass door of the business was completely destroyed as a result of the shots. Likewise, in the customer service area, at least five bullet impacts can be distinguished inside the establishment. According to preliminary information, the alleged perpetrators were traveling in a Mitsubishi bus, gray in color, which had an exhibition plate at the time of the event.

So far, no details have been offered about people injured during the event. It is expected that in the coming hours the authorities will offer more information about the case and the investigations to find those responsible.
